Does sound change in different water temperatures.
Specific Question:
Does water temperature affect sound distortion.
Hypothesis:
The water temperature will not affect sound distortion.
Graph of Hypothesis
Variables
Independent Variable:
Temperature of water.
Dependent Variable:
Sound distortion.
Variables That Need To Be Controlled:
Size of testing chamber.
Vocabulary List That Needs Explanation
General Plan
For my experiment I am going to have a tube filled with water with a speaker at one end and a microphone at the other end.I will send a certain sound from the speaker a pick up the sound on the other end and see if the sound has distorted through the tube. Then I would change the temperature and see if the sound distorted different from the room temperature water.
Potential Problems And Solutions
Keeping the water at a certain temperature:
To run the water through a copper pipe that is sumerged in hot or cold water
Safety Or Environmental Concerns
Hot Water
Experimental Design
Controlled, manipulated experiment
What is your experimental unit?
One Tube of Water
Number Of Trials:
At least 10.
Number Of Subjects In Each trial:
